In America father’s day is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday in June. This day was declared a day to observe by President Nixon in 1972. In America there are almost 64 million fathers that are praised for their efforts as a father. From then on we have seen the great importance of this day, after all why should only our mothers be celebrated when parenthood is a 2 person job. The first president of America, George Washington is well known for his efforts in leading this country to freedom. He never acted as a President and would behave quite normal around people at the time. This great president never had children of his own buy did an amazing job in helping Martha’s 2 children from her previous marriage. He has earned the title of father of our country and he is one to be acknowledged on this day.
Fathers Day Canada
In the Canada father’s day is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday in June. It is a dad that all father figures are recognized for their status. Fathers, uncles and grandfathers all fall into this category. As with the US, Canada also shows their affection for fathers by wearing red roses. White roses are also worn for those who fathers are no longer with them. As with any other culture father’s day is celebrated with food, gifts and the traditional father’s day card. The celebration is uniquely designed to fit the culture of Canada, from their beautiful sceneries to their popular attraction sites.

In Australia father’s day is uniquely placed on the first Sunday in September which makes the date continuously changing. As everyone else the main characteristics of father’s day stay the same but are blended with Australian flavor. Activities are always organized to strengthened the bond of father and son. It is also a day which is used to remember and reflect on the days when fathers were once with us. In no 2 places is father’s day celebrated the exact same and so we find that each country tends to add their own culture and customs to their celebrations.
The main purpose of father’s day is not to be forgotten. While many countries add unique thing to the celebration it is still a day that stands out for showing your father that he is much appreciated and loved by one and all.
